Complementary Angles: Best Buddy Angles!

Imagine two angles that are like best friends who always add up to 90 degrees. We call these "Complementary Angles"!

What Are Complementary Angles?

  • Two angles that, when put together, make a perfect right angle

  • They always add up to exactly 90 degrees

  • Like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together

Fun Way to Understand

Think of complementary angles like:

  • Two superhero friends who team up to create a perfect corner

  • Pizza slices that together make a half pizza

  • Two special friends who complete each other

Examples

  • 30° and 60° are complementary angles (30 + 60 = 90)

  • 45° and 45° are complementary angles (45 + 45 = 90)

  • 10° and 80° are complementary angles (10 + 80 = 90)

Playful Activities

  1. Draw two angles that add up to 90 degrees

  2. Use your arms to create complementary angles

  3. Find complementary angles around your classroom
